Web Design Work Samples Or Case Studies
Pardon the mess here too. Going to be adding new projects to this soon(How long is soon? Not a clue.)
But for now this will have to do.
I've been designing websites in some form or another since High School, mostly just plain HTML sites. But didn't start taking it seriously until my second round of College in 2012.
My first round of college was in 2007, I began my education for Traditional Animation. However the industry was changing and while I still love traditional animation, I couldn't see myself making sense of that career (yet, cause honestly I still love animating!).
After graduating in 2013 I started freelancing as a Web Designer. After some suggestions of a friend I moved from HTML & CSS to Joomla & WordPress.
(Riveting stuff right?!? Almost as fun as watching paint dry!)
Anyway, I stuck with WordPress and mostly local small businesses. Unfortunately times change and the number of sites I've built is much larger than the number of sites I have samples for. Oof.
My Process
Most of my design work starts with a process of distillation and then writing. I do the majority of copywriting on sites I design. Due to limited resources most of my projects aren't about sparkly UI or crazy effects. But a simple approach in providing an easy to use experience that help customers find my clients.
Sleek & Simple.
Simplicity can speak volumns, especially when it comes from a position of sincerity.
Without Further Ado . . .
Island Express Lube & Car Wash
https://islandexpresslubecw.com/
WordPress design for a local Oil Change and Car Wash service. Focused on reliability and their attention to detail. Getting and creating photography for this project was fun. Arnie and his team provided many great photos, but there were a few missing so I had the opportunity to come photograph a few things. Including their very nice Island Express Lube Jeep.
Official City of Imbler Oregon Website
I had the opportunity to work with a local city on redesigning their website in WordPress. They didn't know everything they wanted or how to approach the process.
Through interviews and discussions I was able to determine some important outcomes they needed. Like providing information to residents and visitors.
Then I leaned into their vision of community and friendship.
Although, if I ever have a chance, I'd really like to get some more optimum photography. Photos that include residents enjoying any one of the many public functions hosted by the City of Imbler and better capture that feeling of community!
PreFURed Pet
This isn't a unique design, but rather Debbie asked me to help update her Wix site. I completely restructured the homepage for this project, including adding a great hero image provided by local photographer Aaron Milner Photography.
I really enjoyed this project. After talking with Debbie I learned what she was trying to accomplish and the things that mattered to her. I put those front and center, removing most everything else. This is what eventually led to the use of Aaron's amazing photograph being used. It embodied everything PreFURed Pet stands for.
I also re-wrote and edited the content across the entire site.
PPR Horse Boarding
This WordPress design was created with one very simple idea.
At PPR Horse Boarding, horses come first!
Wendy, the owner, has been working with horses all her life. (If you think I'm exaggerating just check out the picture of her on the about page.) When I initially worked with Wendy there were 2 key areas of her Horses come first approach.
First, explaining the importance of a basic horse care and those expectations to board at her facility.
Second, sharing detailed information and photographs about the quality of this small facility.
PPR Horse Boarding isn't about the quantity of horses boarded, but about the quality care they receive! No exceptions, ever!
